This Hook & Loop (H&L) Soft Backing Pad is a 2” (50mm) diameter premium interface pad with hook and loop material on the face. Though it can be used on the single, fixed speed Merlin2®, we recommend it is best used on the variable speed model which allows greater control with its speed dial. This allows you to control the speed up or down depending on your application. You’re able to fit all our 50mm Astra dot discs.

The medium pad is firmer and greater pressure can be applied to large, uneven surfaces. It is more like the workhorse of the two. The soft pad conforms to the shape of the wood or workpiece. Using both medium and soft pads help build even and contoured, convex and concave shapes easier.

With an addition of a washer it will fit the new variable speed Arbortech or the Saburrtooth drill mandrel.
