CARBATEC CYROGENIC M2 HSS 16MM SPINDLE GOUGE CT-WTC-SG-16

Cryogenic treatment of M2 HSS means this steel has been subjected to a complex immersion procedure at temperatures as low as minus 195degC. Sounds fancy (and cold!) but what does this mean? This treatment actually changes the structure of the steel, producing an ultra-fine and hard martensitic structure, supported by fine carbides.

The result - Additional wear resistance and edge holding capability of approximately 2 to 3 times that of regular M2 HSS !! Now that's an impressive edge!

We listened to turners needs and requests to develop and release these new individual tools. This new range feature a number of larger tools for heavier or bigger projects, along with a few more specialised tools not found in our sets.*

This tool is a bigger 16mm Large and Heavy Duty Spindle Gouge, equally perfect for larger projects or heavier cuts in any spindle project.

This is a 16mm spindle gouge - the shaft is 16mm in diameter. Tip to tip on the flute is about 13mm.

The blade is laser etched and 245mm in length.

The handle is also laser etched and is approximately 390mm in length.

May need final sharpening before use.

As per our sets, these tools feature Stainless Steel Ferrules, along with solid and smooth European Hardwood handles.
