OLDE STYLE DANISH OIL  1 Litre

out of stock

Organoil "Olde Style" Danish Oil is a matt, penetrating and nourishing, true oil finish, similar to the original "Danish" "Teak" and "Scandinavian" oils. Ideal for use on interior timber furniture, doors, architraves, sarking, wall panelling and exposed beams. It does not form a film like modern "Danish" oils.

A natural, clear finishing, penetrative and nourishing oil blend based on the original formulation which made "Danish Oil" so well known. Suitable for finishing interior feature timbers and furniture, as well as wood turned articles. Food safe.

DESCRIPTION “Danish Oil” has been well known for many years as a traditional oil for finishing timber. Organoil’s Olde Style Danish

Oil is based on the original heavy oil formula which made “Danish Oils” so popular and easy to use. Designed to nourish and preserve timber, without the need for chemicals or petroleum ingredients. Food safe, and suitable for children’s toys,

playpens, bassinets and cots etc.

USES: Internal furniture, doors, windows, feature timbers such as panelling or sarking and exposed beams. Excellent for woodwork and turning. Not to be used on floors, benchtops or in wet areas.

INGREDIENTS: Genuine Tung Oil, White Linseed Oil, Pinewood oil and Citrus oil.

PREPARATION:

1. For best results, fine sand timber to 600 - 1200 grit. The finer the better.

2. Ensure the timber is clean, dry and free of sawdust etc.

3. Previous skin forming products (paint or varnish) should be completely removed by sanding prior to oiling.

4. If accessible during the construction or installation process, it is recommended to coat the rear and / or end grain of the timber with one liberal coat of oil.

APPLICATION:

 1. Ensure preparation has been completed first. Shake/stir well prior and during use.

2. Using a brush or lambs wool applicator, apply 2 coats ONLY, a minimum of 24 hours apart. (One coat only, when rejuvenating a previously oiled surface).

3. The use of a white synthetic scourer, or fine (1200 grit) wet and dry sandpaper will lift the patina to a low sheen.

4. It is essential that within 1 hour of each application, you firmly dry-cloth in the excess oil, to ensure a non tacky, non dust collecting surface.

5. Power buffing with a lambs wool pad 24-48 hours later, will also increase the patina.

COVERAGE: (Approximate per coat and depending on timber)

Hardwoods: 10 – 14 square metres per litre (18-20 on the second coat)

Softwoods: 5 – 9 square metres per litre (8-12 on the second coat)
